Once the students do the math and the coloring on a Color By Code or Color By Number and you have checked it {if you want an assessment grade, or don't even worry about checking it.} They can cut the cute animals out and during a center, create a cute little take home art project.
Is this ART? LIKE .... hands on, let them create anything with any medium and become Picasso ART? NO, it is not. But it is an excellent skill for young children to color, cut, paste and design. Some creativity while working on their fine motor skills.
The above sample is part of my UK Version Colour By Numbers, with grey for gray and colour for color. But is is also a perfect example of how you can ALSO use my Color Your Answers to demonstrate some basic art skills.
For Example - Shading
Shading is used in drawing for depicting levels of darkness on paper by applying media more densely or with a darker shade for darker areas, and less densely or with a lighter shade for lighter areas.
The two whales were both colored with the SAME BLACK crayon. The top whale I used a lot of pressure and made sure the crayon wax added a lot of color and depth, allowing the whale to look BLACK. The bottom whale I barely colored with the black crayon, applying very little pressure, creating a gray whale WITHOUT a gray crayon. If you model that on your overhead camera, you've given your students a basic art technique with or without an art teacher!
