A Week's Worth of Place Value for Christmas for 1.NBT.2, 2.NBT.A.1 and 3.NBT.A.2.
So a couple of weeks ago I met up with one of my blogging buddies...seriously, IN.REAL.LIFE! I was completely stepping out of my comfort zone, even driving over a three mile bridge by myself! OK, go ahead and laugh, but I love working from home and I am constantly reminded of Meg Ryan's quote in the movie You've Got Mail. She says, "I lead a small life...and sometimes I
wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave?"
My parents wanted to see the United States, so we traveled and traveled and traveled. Then we ended up in this teeny-tiny town called Orange Park when I was twelve. I couldn't wait to leave, then I couldn't wait to get back. I now live directly south of Orange Park in Fleming Island and I'm giddy-happy waking up, getting a cup of coffee and working in my office or my lanai. But sometime "I lead a small life..." runs around in my head and when Deborah from Happy Edugator recommended that we have lunch, I jumped at the chance to be brave, to have a bigger life!
When we met at the World Famous Olive Garden, {hey, I said I was being brave, not crazy...all you can eat soup and salad!} we decided to collaborate on a Place Value Christmas resource. I published it today and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It contains a Smart Board file, task cards, two PowerPoints, center games, and printables.
First up, 36 task cards in color and black & white.
The task cards start out easy with ones and gradually grow harder ending in thousands.
The three recording sheets help to differentiate your lesson.
Sheet 1 has #1 to #36.
Sheet 2 has #1 to #18 for the ones and tens cards only.
Sheet 3 has #19 to #36 for the hundreds and thousands cards.
All three recording sheets come with the teacher answer key, or print on hard stock and laminate for a student self-checking sheet.
EVERYTHING comes in black and white to save you ink. Print all the task cards, give the students a Zip Loc baggie and it is wonderful practice for winter holidays!
Next up, two PowerPoints for your lessons. One with the answer slide and one without answers.
125 Slides
Use this PowerPoint as a whole class introduction, a review or independently on computers or iPads.
The slides start out easy with ones and continue to get harder to the thousands.
